RENO BRITISH MOTOR SHOW 2022
Reno British Car Club
What later became the RBCC started out in 1984 as the Reno MG Car Club. Some of the original club members are with the club today and still driving their MG’s. By 1994 other makes of British cars were admitted and the club morphed into the Reno All British Car Club and soon after the name was changed to the Reno British Car Club, todays, RBCC. The original club had around 12 members, or so I’ve been told. It was soon recognized that they needed a bigger boat. The club was meeting at a bakery which had a small meeting room holding maybe 20 plus members with standing room only. Clearly, another boat was needed and a chance meeting between a member and the manager of Mimi’s led to our current semi-weekly breakfast meetings at Mimi’s. We fill the meeting room and are pushing the fire Marshall’s limit. We are now 173 members. Our officers are Peter Gulash – President, Ray Hiett – Vice President, Karen Gulash – Secretary, Dale Shuett – Treasurer and Ric Yocke – past President. We’re growing fast gaining new members on a monthly basis. Anyone got a real big boat for sale?
Rancho San Rafael Regional Park
A Very Brief History…
The ranch dates back to the 1890s when it was part of a cattle operation run by the Pincolini brothers. It was used for grazing only. No structures were built during their ownership.
In 1920 the property was sold to a Mr. Jensen and his wife who built the first building on the property, the ranch manager’s house. That building is now the park ranger’s office which was later moved to its present location and the visitors’ section was added. The ranch was used as a sheep ranch until Mr. Jensen died in an auto accident near Truckee CA.
In 1935 Mrs. Jensen sold the ranch to Dr. Raphael Herman and it was once again used as a cattle ranch. It was viewed as a great piece of property for development and to prevent this the property was purchased by the Public Employee Retirement System of Nevada to give Washoe County time to find the funds to turn it into the 570-acre park that it is today.
The park consists of 570 of manicured lawns, pasture land, access to hiking trails, Herman’s Pond and a big park for dogs. Be sure to visit the Wilber D May Museum and the Wilber D May Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
Wander around this beautiful park and don’t worry about the evil judges going picking apart your prize lbc’s!
